OpenRail Overhead Line Designer Help

Create Height Reduction

Ribbon: Track-side Design > Height Reduction

To create a new Catenary Height Reduction the following three inputs are necessary:
  • One structure
  • Two support points of a catenary, with the structure and the height reduction in between

Sicat Master calculates the height of the contact wire, the system height and the position of the overhead contact line elements in the area of the height reduction.

Intention

Create a new catenary height reduction on a structure.

Instructions

  1. Run the New Catenary Height Reduction function.
  2. Select the last support point before the structure as starting point.
  3. Select the first support point after the structure as ending point.
  4. Select the structure between the previously chosen supporting points.
  5. Run the New Catenary Height Reduction function.

Result

Sicat Master creates the catenary height reduction between the support points. The drawing area will be updated automatically. In the topview of the structure a pentagon will be displayed.

The location plan shows a structure with catenary height reduction. The pentagon, which represents the catenary height reduction, is displayed in the center of the structure

The catenary height reduction is the precondition for the input of the calculation parameter and for the implementation of the real height reduction. The real height reduction can be subdivided into three sections. The central span, the uplift towards km 0 of the track path, and the uplift of the catenary form the structure towards km x.
